Erik van de Wijdeven (Wageningen, 1988) studied at Design Academy Eindhoven and the Theatre Academy in Maastricht. Currently, he works both on stage as an actor/physical performer, as well as off stage as a scenographer/light designer. His work is characterized by his fascination for creating abstract, minimalist installations and atmospheres which enhance the expression and perception of the human presence. As a performer, he works a lot with and from body awareness and control as a source of theatricality and transformation.
Ideally, he merges different disciplines toward the creation of physical and textual pieces with a strong visual and spatial signature. He is a strong physical and textual improviser and is deeply dedicated to his continued understanding and ability in the field of instant composition and improvised theatre.
