Course program 11 to 23 August, 2025
The aim of the two week Summer Course Amsterdam is to host and facilitate a shared responsibility with the participants on the course, in a learning and creative environment. We encourage a proactive attitude in how to question our own and each others’ methods and resources.
The Course Program is directed by Katie Duck in week 1, with the support of the Amsterdam based Artists staff in week 2: Maria Mavridou, Erik van de Wijdeven, Manuela Lucia Tessi and Jonathan Nagel. Musicians James Hewitt and Camille Verhaak will join the final rehearsals and performances.
Each of these artists come from different countries and artistic backgrounds. What they have in common is a dedication to develop multidisciplinary practices with a curiosity for how improvisation evolves towards real time performances.
The Summer Course schedule includes, in week 1, (Monday to Friday 10:00-18:00) movement studies, improvisation and a Multidisciplinary Workshop with Katie Duck. In week 2, (Monday to Friday 11:00-18:00) body, text, music, and improvisation sessions that lead to a rehearsal process with Katie and the Summer Course staff. On the final Friday and Saturday evenings, with all of the participants of the two weeks course and the Summer Course staff, we celebrate real time, one hour performances, under the title “Sublime Escapades”
The morning sessions in the Attic Studio allow time for movement and improvisation sessions, but also space for the participants to gather, bond and feedback.
